The South Shore Line, under Venango River Corporation ownership, purchased six of these Santa Fe CE-1 type cabooses in the early 80s. These were hastily renumbered 001 to 006 and painted over with the South Shore Line logo. Later in the 90s, now under Anacosta Pacific ownership, 001 (full number 10001) was repainted in orange and maroon will full South Shore Line markings.
Caboose 001's paint job received some modifications during its career as illustrated by the three pictures immediately below, first with the addition of a safety slogan, then later with a "Look Listen Live" logo, black steps and end platforms, and yellow handrails.

Cabooses 10002-10006 remained in Sante Fe paint throughout their service on the South Shore.
