The Baltimore and Ohio (under the Chessie System umbrella) produced 12 specially-painted cabooses in 1973-1974 to promote its safety awareness program. These eyecatching bay-window cabooses each sported a unique color and safety slogan.
The Chesapeake and Ohio followed suit shortly thereafter, producing a total of 7 wide-vision (or extended vision) cabooses in 1975 - 1976.
These cabooses have long been a favorite of railfans and modelers alike.
